ID verification

One human step, and it is the whole of what this platform vouches for.

What you submit

A photograph of a government ID, and a photograph of you holding it. Both are uploaded from the verification section of your profile score page, or from step 7 of onboarding.

What it unlocks

Until your ID is verified you can be listed and found, and that is most of it. Verified, you can:

• read a job's pay and see who posted it: neither is on the public job page

for anybody

• message clients
• apply to jobs
• answer a call invitation and pick a time
• sign a contract

That is why it is worth doing even if nothing is stopping you being listed.

What locks

Your name, date of birth and gender, at the moment it is approved. A verified name that could be changed afterwards would not be a verified name.

Nothing else locks. Your photo, address, phone, rate, skills, bio and everything about the work stay editable for ever.

If a locked field is genuinely wrong, a legal name change or a typo we approved, tell us and we can change it.

If it is turned down

You are told, and you are told why. That is different from a profile takedown, whose reason is deliberately not shown: a takedown hides one thing and you keep using the product, while a rejected ID is something we are asking you to do again, and "no" without "why" is not an ask.

Fix what the reason names and submit again. There is no limit on attempts.

While it is waiting

Your profile stays exactly as it is. The verification section shows that it is with a reviewer, and there is nothing else to do.

What happens to the photographs

They are kept only as long as the decision needs them and are then deleted. The outcome and the dates stay, because that is the record. The privacy page has the authoritative periods.
